@Reyk: "Thomas expressed his doubts at chess mind whether this would have been Germany or Jordania in case of a tie between Germany and Estonia."

That's me: If Germany had drawn against Estonia, they would have finished with 12 match points - like Jordan. Oddly, the regulations don't specify what happens in such a situation: "the sum of Sonneborn-Berger points, which are calculated as follows:
match points of each opponent, excluding the opponent who scored the lowest number of match points, multiplied by the number of game points achieved against this opponent".

Common sense would indicate that Jordan is still Ukraine's weakest opponent (their tiebreak would be far inferior to Germany's) - this could be easily clarified in the regulations ("lowest-ranked opponent" rather than "lowest number of match points"). But some people apparently assumed (or knew?) that the "more favorable result" (Ukraine's 4-0 against Jordan rather than their 2.5-1,5 against Germany) would be retained for tiebreak calculations. Those probably included the Ukrainians themselves: If Bluebaum-Seeman was initially reported as 0-1 rather than 1-0, Estonia would have been leading 2-1 in the match (rather than trailing 1-2). The last game Ladva-Meier (later 1/2) took 100 moves and was probably still ongoing when Beliavsky resigned against Eljanov on move 78.

Such a situation - two opponents with equally few matchpoints - probably has occurred for some team somewhere in the final standings, if not at this Olympiad than at an earlier one. But I am not curious (or bored) enough to check ...
